Coffee Got Cold.

9:11 PM

When was this created?

I can't believe I haven't written, yet again. I mean I really had so much to tell you all. I have to tell you about all my homework assignments and the amount of caffeine I have inhaled these past few weeks, wait has it been months?

Basically, my life has been the busiest that if I actually posted it would just be a copy of my planner, which is full of school assignments and nothing that interesting. But, I feel it is only fair I update you on the actual fun and exciting things I have encountered. So, let me begin my timeline...

September freakin' 8: Washed Out Concert: I MET THE GREENES. Yes, it was incredible and I freaked out. I have had the privilege of meeting them before at a KXT private show and must I say they are INCREDIBLY kind. It's kind of how us southerners are. What can I say...?

September 21: Little cousin turned 15. Why can't I be 15 again? Oh yeah... cause life doesn't work that way. Ugh. Find me a time turner, NOW. But, she had an open bar, a photo booth, it had a colorful, traditional Mexican theme, and did I mention it was open bar?

September 28: I had the opportunity to see Chris Ramirez in action! Give this guy a Tony, geez.

October 5: Ah, yes... the most wonderful time of the year. Ok, almost as good as Christmas. The State Fair of Texas. Gaining 10 pounds never felt and tasted so good. This year was a good one. The funnel cake ale, the fried chicken in a cone, sweet cotton candy, krispy kream burger (ehm... don't try that one), and Fletcher's corny dogs. Ah, fall.

October 11: Have you ever listened to the Dirty River Boys? Oh you haven't?! Please click and listen.  They're from El Paso, Texas so you know they'll be good. They performed one hell of a show. I had such a blast and you know what was even better? I won tickets! So I saved about $12 bucks. Hashtag: BOOYAH.

October 13: Some may think that trying out a new coffee shop isn't such a big deal, but this is what I live for. Coffee runs through my veins. So I drove to the Bishops Art District and sat for hours at The Wild Detectives. Deliciously delicious lattes and iced coffee. Just simple, they don't have flavor to add but it was honestly so good it didn't need any. Plus, they serve Emporium Pies pies. They only have two flavor but they are custom made for the coffee house. SO they are some pretty special pies. Oh, forgot to mention it's a bookstore and they have a large selection of Spanish authors. I rate this place an A++.

October 25: Day of the Dead festival in Denton. Coffin races, crafts, and free candy, I mean what else can you ask for?

October 30: Speaking of Day of the Dead, my Spanish 3060 class built an ofrenda. An ofrenda is a mini shrine dedicated to a loved one or anyone who has departed. You add colorful decorations, food, candles to illuminate their spirits coming back to our world... don't get freaked out; just google it.

November 9: Remember when I told y'all about the First Aid Kit? Well I (again) won tickets to a show! (Thanks Granada) This was possibly one of the most memorable shows of my entire life. You see, I went solo. No, not because I wanted to. I had two tickets, boyfriend got sick, didn't want to bother anyone last minute to attend with me. (Okay, I did have someone to invite but I didn't want to change her plans so last minute) So. I went solo for the first time to a concert. I cried actual tears. I've said it again and again. It was such an intimate show. They sang beautifully. If you ever get the opportunity to see these lovely Swedish sisters performed do yourself a favor and go.

There.

My timeline.

One eternity later...

9:04 PM

My dear friends,

I sincerely apologize to anyone who has been waiting anxiously for a post. I have honestly been super busy to the point where I can purchase a planner and actually USE it.

I survived an entire week at my new job, which wasn't a breeze. But I did it! I truly enjoy it and my kiddos have enjoyed Spanish class as well. I know because they actually tell me. I mean, it's been the same thing all last week... lesson plans, songs about colors and days of the week, yadda yadda.

Last Friday I celebrated a three birthdays with three special ladies! Last Tuesday we celebrated Crissy&Chrissy's birthday at Eno's Pizza Tavern in Bishops Arts District and boy was is delicious. Had a splendid time and if you ever get a chance to try that place out PLEASE try the Pig Smiley. It has ham, spicy sausage, pepperoni, OH AND LOCAL FREAKIN' HONEY. Yes, you read right... honey. Trust me. It is amazing.
Second birthday celebration was for the lovely Mariah! Possibly the sweetest girl I know. She (finally) went to the Truck Yard since you know it's all I talk about and boy was it a good time! Had a Trashcan Punch and it was tasty and did its job. But, I sure did look like a fool that night! Ha. No, I was NOT wasted. So... let me share with you why. I was going to take a seat, if you've been there you know there are some seats that don't look very safe. To make the story short, I sat on a cheap lawn chair, it was broken, I busted my butt, and cut the back of my leg with the metal legs on the chair. Yikes! Glad i've had my tetanus shot.
Last, but NOT LEAST YOU. I attended the One Direction concert. Yes, you read it right. One Direction. I have a weak spot for boy bands ok... and I also have a favorite. Harry Styles. Something about that messy hair of his and not to mention he's like super goofy. I don't know why they make a girl feel beautiful... OHHHH OH OH... that's what makes them beautiful! That was a bit cheesy. I never thought I would listen to another boy band because the Jonas Brothers were my everything, but those british boys sure make my heart melt. (I still love you Nick.) But honestly, I truly had a blast! Thanks so much Vanessa for dragging me along.
My friends, I will TRY really HARD to keep up with it, okay? I start classes this week at UNT and trust me I am not looking forward to it. Especially the drive to Denton. Have y'all driven down 35?! Your girly needs prayers, I would appreciate every single one you send my way.

Tomorrow is Monday.

3:56 PM

Boy, I had a wonderful weekend. I apologize. I know y'all have been anticipating my next post.

But with all honesty, a lot went down this weekend. I finally saw my little classroom. For those of you who don't know or those of you who haven't read my ABOUT ME section, I am now a Spanish teacher at a little private school. Woot! I feel absolutely blessed to have come across this opportunity. I lived through an entire summer without a job which was terrible. I planned to hunt for a job with flexible hours and decent pay. How very picky of me, but hey... after working for a road side assistant call center who never ever gave me weekends off (I went 9 months without a weekend, ok.) I think I deserve a job where I felt a bit more appreciated. I mean, honestly, would you want an adult yell obscene words at you on the phone when all you're trying to do it help?! I really shouldn't be complaining because that job payed the bills and put bread on the table. So even though I had a job I did not "enjoy" I was still blessed to have it, but I sure have rights on complaining, right? OK, lets get to the good stuff.
How stinkin' cute is this? Obviously there is not much I have to do to the room because there is PLENTY going on in there.

So I dropped some of my classroom material Friday morning and then I went home and did a little resting. Then I got a phone call. My sister was in need of a drink and I kind of rightfully earned a night out. So I called my cousin, asked her if she was dressed, and gave her 10 minutes to be ready.
I tried a new place out that I've been dying to try. The Rustic Resturant which is located in Uptown was a good time! Not only do that have wholesome, organic, savory, farm-fresh ingredients with your meals that you can wash down with a (or some) local beer, spirits, and wine... BUT you'll also have a side of local live music! I had the opportunity to listen to the Dallas local band The O's. Absolutely brought out the atmosphere with their harmonica and banjo. You honestly forget your in the middle of all the buildings with their country/folky music. Ugh... but to be honest. I am still thinking about that mimosarita though. It's definitely a go-to place. (Oh... just a heads up. Plan on breaking the bank)
Saturday night was a good time since we hit up my favorite spot, The Truck Yard. Food trucks, junkyard decor, and booze? Nothing beats that.
Ok, so Saturday and Sunday morning/afternoon, Shane and I did a little shopping which was a pain since there was a stampede of high school students getting on those back-to-school sales. Regardless, we saved a buck or two which is always nice.

I am starting working tomorrow, but a weekend like this sure calms my nerves.

A juice box, please.

7:30 PM

Today was one of those days where I could restore my energy from this hectic week, so bare with me if this gets a bit boring.

I babysat Shane's sweet little brother, Lane. We literally sat and watched Ninjago all morning. For all of you who do not know, "Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu is an action comedy family animated TV series that centers on the adventures of four ninjas." according to Wikipedia.
It was not by choice. Ok ok, I am lying if I fully agree with that last statement because to be honest, I have a weak spot for cartoons. Yes. I did enjoy it. Especially since I ate a mini-lunchable and drank from a juice box. I know, I didn't enjoy an iced coffee which really stinks. But oh man, you must, MUST, M-U-S-T try the Vita Coco kids juice box! It is delicious and as an "adult" I feel like it's so much healthier than Capri Sun and it's just as good. Lane tried it and he also gives it two thumbs up.

To be honest nothing else interesting happened. I did have Meet the Teacher tonight and laminated some things for my classroom, so I am not looking forward to cutting all that.
Any volunteers?

Hope I have something interesting to share with you tomorrow.

The return.

4:30 PM

Tackled day two without having refuel with coffee. But, I sure did refuel on a delicious iced green tea latte. Ha!

Let's begin from the beginning again, duh. After having an entire summer with no responsibilities (I didn't take summer classes; I know right, what was I thinking) but where was I... ah yes, no responsibilities what so ever. Until today. Until this entire week. Lets just say I babysat 3 kids from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45, drove to Hurst which is suppose to be a 30 minute drive (right?)... sure took me about 19 minutes since I was zipping through traffic and babysat the girls from 12:04 to 5:30 pm. Oh, remember the cupcake thing? It worked! They napped for 2 hours. Thank. God. So, they earned the chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting and edible glitter, but of course until AFTER dinner.

I am now at what I think is my favorite coffeehouse e-v-e-r.
Typing.
Like I said I would.

I am currently at Roots Coffehouse. The barista, who remembered my freakin' name, again was as sweet as ever. I had coffee this morning so I thought I should change it up a bit and you guessed it, a iced green tea latte. Ugh. It's delicious. I'm not a fan of green tea, I'll admit, but I might just change my mind. Or I just really trust/love this place. I am once again taking a breather while listening to First Aid Kit. Anyone out there a fan? If you are and if you live in the Dallas area they will be performing here. Dates are TBD at the moment. So if you are into that acoustic, folky, indie music you should check it out. They will be performing at the Granada Theater, one of my all time favorite venues. But I won't get into it, that'll be an entirely different post.

But sure listen to one of their new tunes: My Silver Lining by First Aid Kit

Well, my phone just went off... it's not on silent... and there goes my Harry Potter: Hedwig's Theme ringtone. I'll let y'all go now so I can answer that.
(BTW, people are throwing the biggest grins I've ever seen. Good sign.)

UPDATE: The baristas name is Alyssa.

Coffee saved the day.

6:43 PM

What a busy, busy day. Let's just say, thank GOD for coffee.

From the beginning. Stopped at Starbucks (duh.) and drove to work. Ok, I am officially CPR/First aid trained. Hooray! I use to think CPR was a great excuse to kiss cute boys. As bad as I want to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt unconscious just to save his life AND give him a huge smooch, I don't have that kind of luck. But honestly, I hope I never have to do it. But hey, if you're ever unconscious and not breathing... just give me a call.

After that, I babysat two sweet girls but booooy I can not be a mother any. time. soon. If anyone can tell me any secrets on how to get them to take a nap please oh please share! So far I've bribed them with cupcakes so I pray it works tomorrow. (Oh, and they asked for a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting and edible glitter)

An entire productive and busy morning checked off so I decided to stop by a coffee shop I've been eyeing for quiet a while. It is in North Richland Hills right by Tarrant County College and I have nothing but positive things to say! The rustic feel, dim lighting, the pyrography logo on the wooden table... I love it all! I walked in an the barista what absolutely wonderful. She recommend a delicious drink, gave me a BOGO coupon, and even went the extra mile by giving me an extra stamp on my new loyalty card! So, I sat there to work on my planner, take a little breather, and enjoy the atmosphere. When I finished up and walked towards the door I hear, "Later, Liz!" LIKE, HOW AMAZING IS THAT?! I am defenitly going to visit tomorrow and who knows; I might even do a little typing as well.

So overall, I had a wickedly amazing day. I am so ready for round two.

life

Let's begin.

2:06 PM

There is always a time in ones life when you begin to think, "you know... why don't I own a journal like I did at the age of 10?" I believe I still have my Winnie the Pooh diary, the one where I confessed my first true love in 5th grade, but of course wouldn't dare share that with anyone else but Mr. Pooh bear. So I decided to find a little corner in the internet universe where I am able to share with you all the love I had for my 5th grade crush.

I'm only kidding.

I feel like starting this at 24 years young. I am at that stage of my life where I am juggling school, a job that actually requires responsibility and planning (oh joy)... My plan is to be able to organize myself a little and also be able to see myself grow from here. I'll be posting the daily things I do at work, i'll avoid the school projects, and begin to share my ups and downs throughout my life.

So grab your cup of jo (or glass of wine, whatever your preference is) and let's make a toast to a new beginning! Cheers!

xoxo Liiz
