A date with Frida & Diego.

1:56 PM

Hey goodlookin'

Did you all miss me?
I can say I didn't have time to update and post but honestly I didn't want to 😜

I had the opportunity to go to the México 1900-1950 exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art gazing at stunning artwork from Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo and many other amazing. I decided to go with my mother because I know no one would appreciate it as much as I would.

Las Dos Fridas // Frida Kahlo

India Oaxaqueña // Ramón Cano Manilla

La Vendedora de Frutas // Olga Costa

Vendedora de Alcatraces // Diego Rivera

Now, I have a ton of photographs I took but I honestly don't want to spoil and share too much with those who are visiting this exhibit. FYI, the last day is July 16th so you all have plenty of time to see this.

These are just a few of my favorite pieces.
As I walked around, I felt a beautiful vibe that made me feel so proud of my Mexican roots. Also seeing others of all different ethnic backgrounds and cultures appreciate the beautiful Mexican artwork made me so happy.

10 Facts About Me.

8:50 PM

Hello babes,

Happy International Women's Day to all my wonderful and beautiful warriors out there!

I believe a blog (or social media in general) is a perfect way to get to know one another and that is an introduction into my next post. I do apologize that it is a day late but I truly doubt there were people who set up a reminder on their phone that I would post something on Tuesday, haha.

So, since you are on my turf, allow me to introduce myself and provide 10 fun and lengthy facts about me...

1. My social security number is... kidding. I will provide that another day. Haha. So I love a good sense of humor and I love to sprinkle a little sarcasm in there as well if you can't already tell. I am a fan of puns so don't be afraid to blurt one out when you are with me.

I truly believe that laughter, happiness and a smile on one's face looks so good on a person. So if you ever run into me, share a good joke (or a bad one... its cool I won't judge) But, please don't come up to me if you have some sour attitude and can't put up with my humorous ways cause I am not a fan of that.

2. I am a newly grad from the University of Texas. Go Mean Green! I have a degree Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology with a minor in Spanish that I officially claimed mine last December. Now, for those who are considering going back to school and would be labeled "non-traditional students" please just know that I believe in you. When I would here that italicized phrase from loved one and strangers a huge wave of encouragement would hit me so here I am sharing it with you;
"I BELIEVE IN YOU!"

Trust me, I know (I KNOOOW) it sounds like a long and dreadful journey but once you've achieving something that rewarding it feels amazing at whatever age.

3. As you may already know because I feel like I have made it very clear in my past posts... music is something that is extremely important to me. I am unable to carry a note and incapable of playing any instruments but something about listening to music... better yet, listening to it live gives me so much joy.
Sad and feeling broken? Listen to The Smiths.
Need a mood booster? Listen to The Strokes; they always pump me up!
Feeling like a bad b****? Listen to Beyoncé.

I'm telling you, listening to music only amplifies your mood times 100!
To date, I have 103 vinyl records and have created 35 very organized playlist on my Spotify account but I guarantee both will grow in no time.

4. I am the daughter of immigrant parents. Both my mother and father came to this country searching for opportunities to build a better life. I have so much respect for my parents for building up the courage to pack their bags, move to another country with a language that is foreign to them and giving up so much to provide what little they had for my sister and I.
My Mexican roots are something that I am extremely proud of and I can never imagine being ashamed of the history I carry in my blood. Plus, being bilingual is great... it only means I can listen and understand twice the amount of music.

5. I have been blessed with one kind, respectful, handsome boyfriend who I have been dating for five years. Now, Shane and I often (very often) do not see eye to eye but I believe that is what makes our relationship grow and also keeps things a little spicy. What I have learned these five years is the meaning of patience, self-worth and respect. He has helped me boost my self-confidence on so many levels. So ladies and gents... he or she will come when you least expect it.

6. Speaking of knowing ones self-worth, I am attempting to learn self-love. I must admit that I do not always look into the mirror and love what I see but I am slowly learning to accept myself whether in it my crooked teeth, my little gut, my acne scars that serve as a reminder of all the stress that uni has caused me.
I love my green eyes, my genuine smile, my bubbly personality.
Babes, writing a list about what you love most about yourself will make you appreciate your quirks that make you so unique.

7. I enjoy taking photographs so much. On my phone or with a camera; digital and film. I enjoy the editing process (now if only I could process my own film, that would be amazing) Honestly, ever since I can remember I have always carried a camera with me growing up whether it was a polaroid camera or my old Canon.
Capturing and sharing what your own personal viewfinder you carry around above your nose and being able to share that is just so captivating.

8. I have no shame to admit this at all... I love to sing-along to Disney music. I would like to thank my mother for buying me Disney sing-alongs and films growing up. Yes, at the age of 26 I can sing Colors of the Wind and would publicly request it on a karaoke night.
(Just press play... you know you want to)

9. I find so much joy in traveling. Something about visiting and exploring a new place you have never been, having your taste buds experience new flavors and dishes & seeing unfamiliar faces is pure bliss. Trust me, you don't have to go far to explore the world around you.
Quick tip: if you go to London I don't recommend you hide from for boyfriend at the subway station because it WILL freak him out.

10. I love to dance! I danced a bit in high school and loved being on stage. You can catch me dancing while in line at the grocery store and dancing to elevator music on an elevator. I am also that person who ♪ siiiings ♪ everything I am ♪ dooooOooooing ♪
(Yes, it is very Jessica Day of me... also I might add: I loooooove Zooey Deschanel with all my heart)

Bonus fact!
11. I don't think its an obvious one but I love coffee, coffee shops and beautiful latte art.

So loves, that was a little taste of what I am all about. If you don't mind a Disney-dancing-Mexican-America-Vinyl-Spinning-dork then we will totally get along.

xx
