Hey babes,
As I sit here at Houndstooth wondering what my next post should be about or if I should even continue this journey since I am totally not consistent ( I DID WARN YOU ALL)
& honest to God I have no clue what to talk about with you all...
I suppose I can tell you all the exciting things that I've been doing this past month in a freaking half and what is going through this mind of mine.
In the past, I have shied away from ever meeting people through social media because I find myself intimidated by either the amount of followers they have, feel uber self-conscious of what they will think of me and have been afraid to feel some sort of social anxiety creep up when and if meet up.
But at the age of 26, I find it difficult to meet people because well... where the hell DO you meet people now-a-days? I haven't spoken to people I went to high school with since I graduated high school and sometimes i'll send them an occasional and super generic 'happy birthday' post on their Facebook wall but that is about it. (Damn now that I think of it, that high school reunion is creepin' up fast haha) But again, I don't do socializing very well and I tend to be more of a homebody... until now.
It has been some time since the event happened but I had the opportunity to go to a Glossier event.
(SHOUTOUT to Maddie G for making me her +1 (IG: @weirrdhoney) who is a Glossier rep!)
But, socializing with a bunch of ladies who are not only absolutely gorgeous and smart BUT are also super inspiring. The amount of influence that pours out of them and their beautiful Instagram posts makes you feel so empowering.
We talked beauty regimens, life, roasted on each other a bit (*cough Yareli & Solais cough*) all over cocktails and delicious food at Top Knot. Also had the pleasure of meeting new yet familiar faces (~hi Nhu btw, she's got amazing music taste like I do so... yeah... she's basically the best)
Sushi, cocktails and Glossier products? It's as dope as it sounds, ladies. Now I am totally obsessed with Glossier products.
Since then, I've meet some wonderful people, have drank a bountiful amount of coffee and have been to some life-changing concerts. Oh, & NATALIA LAFOURCADE came out with a new album so that it news worth material! So, heres some shots of this months highlights. Enjoy.
Hello babes,
Happy International Women's Day to all my wonderful and beautiful warriors out there!
I believe a blog (or social media in general) is a perfect way to get to know one another and that is an introduction into my next post. I do apologize that it is a day late but I truly doubt there were people who set up a reminder on their phone that I would post something on Tuesday, haha.
So, since you are on my turf, allow me to introduce myself and provide 10 fun and lengthy facts about me...
1. My social security number is... kidding. I will provide that another day. Haha. So I love a good sense of humor and I love to sprinkle a little sarcasm in there as well if you can't already tell. I am a fan of puns so don't be afraid to blurt one out when you are with me.
I truly believe that laughter, happiness and a smile on one's face looks so good on a person. So if you ever run into me, share a good joke (or a bad one... its cool I won't judge) But, please don't come up to me if you have some sour attitude and can't put up with my humorous ways cause I am not a fan of that.
2. I am a newly grad from the University of Texas. Go Mean Green! I have a degree Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology with a minor in Spanish that I officially claimed mine last December. Now, for those who are considering going back to school and would be labeled "non-traditional students" please just know that I believe in you. When I would here that italicized phrase from loved one and strangers a huge wave of encouragement would hit me so here I am sharing it with you;
"I BELIEVE IN YOU!"
Trust me, I know (I KNOOOW) it sounds like a long and dreadful journey but once you've achieving something that rewarding it feels amazing at whatever age.
3. As you may already know because I feel like I have made it very clear in my past posts... music is something that is extremely important to me. I am unable to carry a note and incapable of playing any instruments but something about listening to music... better yet, listening to it live gives me so much joy.
Sad and feeling broken? Listen to The Smiths.
Need a mood booster? Listen to The Strokes; they always pump me up!
Feeling like a bad b****? Listen to Beyoncé.
I'm telling you, listening to music only amplifies your mood times 100!
To date, I have 103 vinyl records and have created 35 very organized playlist on my Spotify account but I guarantee both will grow in no time.
4. I am the daughter of immigrant parents. Both my mother and father came to this country searching for opportunities to build a better life. I have so much respect for my parents for building up the courage to pack their bags, move to another country with a language that is foreign to them and giving up so much to provide what little they had for my sister and I.
My Mexican roots are something that I am extremely proud of and I can never imagine being ashamed of the history I carry in my blood. Plus, being bilingual is great... it only means I can listen and understand twice the amount of music.
5. I have been blessed with one kind, respectful, handsome boyfriend who I have been dating for five years. Now, Shane and I often (very often) do not see eye to eye but I believe that is what makes our relationship grow and also keeps things a little spicy. What I have learned these five years is the meaning of patience, self-worth and respect. He has helped me boost my self-confidence on so many levels. So ladies and gents... he or she will come when you least expect it.
6. Speaking of knowing ones self-worth, I am attempting to learn self-love. I must admit that I do not always look into the mirror and love what I see but I am slowly learning to accept myself whether in it my crooked teeth, my little gut, my acne scars that serve as a reminder of all the stress that uni has caused me.
I love my green eyes, my genuine smile, my bubbly personality.
Babes, writing a list about what you love most about yourself will make you appreciate your quirks that make you so unique.
7. I enjoy taking photographs so much. On my phone or with a camera; digital and film. I enjoy the editing process (now if only I could process my own film, that would be amazing) Honestly, ever since I can remember I have always carried a camera with me growing up whether it was a polaroid camera or my old Canon.
Capturing and sharing what your own personal viewfinder you carry around above your nose and being able to share that is just so captivating.
(Just press play... you know you want to)
9. I find so much joy in traveling. Something about visiting and exploring a new place you have never been, having your taste buds experience new flavors and dishes & seeing unfamiliar faces is pure bliss. Trust me, you don't have to go far to explore the world around you.
Quick tip: if you go to London I don't recommend you hide from for boyfriend at the subway station because it WILL freak him out.
10. I love to dance! I danced a bit in high school and loved being on stage. You can catch me dancing while in line at the grocery store and dancing to elevator music on an elevator. I am also that person who ♪ siiiings ♪ everything I am ♪ dooooOooooing ♪
(Yes, it is very Jessica Day of me... also I might add: I loooooove Zooey Deschanel with all my heart)
Bonus fact!
11. I don't think its an obvious one but I love coffee, coffee shops and beautiful latte art.
So loves, that was a little taste of what I am all about. If you don't mind a Disney-dancing-Mexican-America-Vinyl-Spinning-dork then we will totally get along.

About 7 years ago, I bought myself a Crosley record player at Target- (the one that plays tapes, cd's). The first vinyl I bought to test my new record player was Vampire Weekend- you know... the album with the song A-Punk...
Well, 3 Crosley's later and I decided I was not a fan. Some of my beloved records began to scratch and the sound quality and speakers don't do it justice.
So last Christmas, Shane bought me an Audio-technica & I fell IN LOVE!
On this fine Tuesday I decided to share some (SOME) of my favorite vinyls. To be completely honest, it was a bit difficult going through them and choosing 11-12 that I constantly spin and have such sentimental value.
Due to the fear of being sued with copyright infringement, I did not add any music to this video. I should and will investigate if I ever decide to make a video again. What I suggest you do is listen to your favorite song while you watch my first little video that took me about 2 freakin' hours to make.
I respect all Youtube-ers so much after doing this, haha.
I have had the opportunity to see some of these amazing musicians live (BOB DYLAN FOR EXAMPLE) & of course I tote the record sleeve around so they can sign it if the artist agrees to 'meet & greets'.
Trust me, it is SO worth it!
If you follow my on IG, you know my most recent purchase is the Selena- Dreaming of You album.
Any Texan/Latino/Human-freaking-being can agree that Selena is and will forever be QUEEN!
Below is a picture of 6 year old me passionately singing to Como La Flor.
(How do I know this? My mom told me- y mi mamá no hecha mentiras, okay.)
To be honest, I still look like that when I sing to Selena.
I honestly have no preference when it comes to genre and although my style changes, I have always been open to listen to anything that makes me feel any sort of emotion.
I believe that music can tell a story.
I believe that music can help express feelings you can't put into words.
I believe that music can work as a time-travel machine if you are ever feeling nostalgic.
I also believe that music connects people.
I believe music one listens to tells a LOT about a person.
So, if you have any desire to get to know me personally-
just click this so you can be directed to my Spotify account.
If you live in the Dallas area, some great local record stores I recommend you visit are:
Those are some record spots I have visited but The Dallas Observer has a great article sharing what they claim to be The Best 10 Record Stores in Dallas. I suggest you check it out!
Now, if you could choose a song(s) that can be the soundtrack of you life, what would it be?
I suggest you think it through, create that soundtrack, pop in your headphones & dig through some crates... you never know what treasure you might find.

xoxo

It seems like a great time to report to the millions of readers I have here. Eight months is enough, correct? It seems since I last posted here was entire semester ago. It is easy to say that it has been an easy 8 months but who am I kidding. It has been. I did nothing productive this summer but now that I have a schedule going again I feel like my life has a purpose! Goodness. I can sit here and write every detail of what I have done all summer OR I can literally show you with pictures of the greatest highlights of 2015.
It is terrifying to have experience yet another birthday; another year. I feel like the older I get the less encouraged I am and the more disappointed I am with myself. I'm going to get deep here because hey, one needs to vent. I had a timeline set when I was young. Graduating, going straight to college, finishing in 4 years (I can't even believe that was my plan), marriage, KIDS... the thought of that is pretty insane. Yet, here I am. 25 years young. I have yet to accomplish any of these goals seventeen year old Liz had. I wanted to have my entire life together by the age of 25 but I am so far from that! (Actually, i'm not but your girl here loves to be dramatic.) It's so easy to compare your life with those around you. I have experience a lot. A LOT. I can't sit here and say my life has been so hard and I can't sit here and say my life has been so easy. I have a pretty nice, balanced life at the moment.
With social media, who can't keep with other friends... ok, acquaintances lives. I am 25. Divorced. Not financially stable. But, I am the happiest I have ever been. I have 14 hours left to complete my degree. I have the support of my amazing family, the six people I actually call friends, my best friend and boyfriend, Shane. I have traveled places I never dreamed of visiting and I have an entire planet yet to discover.
It is so easy to compare yourself to those around you. Comparison can kill you, my friend.
At this point in my life, I think the most important question is to ask yourself... "Are you happy? Are you better off than you were 5 years ago? Is there someone who is holding you back?" Life doesn't always go as planned. Trust me... I know. But, isn't that what life is all about?
I will try to report back every so often. More often than before. I think this benefits me more than it will the reader but I think reflecting on everything that goes in my life only pushed me a little more. And hey, if any of this helps you out then the purpose of me writing all this publicly worked. If there is any advice you would give me I will gladly accept it. I will post pictures of what I have done these past 8 months another day. Promise! (It won't be another 8 months later either lol)

Here I go again. Starting something I can't... scratch that... unwillingly won't keep up with. So I just permanently marked another spot in the vast reaches of what is called the internet.
But, new year new me. Yadda-yadda. Yes. I am aware that it is February but better late than never right?
So nothing too interesting has happened since (currently taking a look to see how long it's been since i've written and holy moly its been 3 months since i've looked at this side of the internet)
Please pardon my run-on sentences but I am utterly embarrassed at the fact that it has actually been that long.
Like I said nothing has happened but i've seen the Dirty River Boys, again. OH, and if you didn't know, Marco freakin' Gutierrez ACTUALLY knew who I was because twitter. Like he actually knew my username and I feel PRETTY cool about that. If you hadn't the chance to check them out just stop reading this and go to Youtube or something and listen to them. These Texas boys sure know how to Raise Some Hell.
When was this created?
I can't believe I haven't written, yet again. I mean I really had so much to tell you all. I have to tell you about all my homework assignments and the amount of caffeine I have inhaled these past few weeks, wait has it been months?
Basically, my life has been the busiest that if I actually posted it would just be a copy of my planner, which is full of school assignments and nothing that interesting. But, I feel it is only fair I update you on the actual fun and exciting things I have encountered. So, let me begin my timeline...
September freakin' 8: Washed Out Concert: I MET THE GREENES. Yes, it was incredible and I freaked out. I have had the privilege of meeting them before at a KXT private show and must I say they are INCREDIBLY kind. It's kind of how us southerners are. What can I say...?
September 21: Little cousin turned 15. Why can't I be 15 again? Oh yeah... cause life doesn't work that way. Ugh. Find me a time turner, NOW. But, she had an open bar, a photo booth, it had a colorful, traditional Mexican theme, and did I mention it was open bar?
September 28: I had the opportunity to see Chris Ramirez in action! Give this guy a Tony, geez.
October 5: Ah, yes... the most wonderful time of the year. Ok, almost as good as Christmas. The State Fair of Texas. Gaining 10 pounds never felt and tasted so good. This year was a good one. The funnel cake ale, the fried chicken in a cone, sweet cotton candy, krispy kream burger (ehm... don't try that one), and Fletcher's corny dogs. Ah, fall.
October 13: Some may think that trying out a new coffee shop isn't such a big deal, but this is what I live for. Coffee runs through my veins. So I drove to the Bishops Art District and sat for hours at The Wild Detectives. Deliciously delicious lattes and iced coffee. Just simple, they don't have flavor to add but it was honestly so good it didn't need any. Plus, they serve Emporium Pies pies. They only have two flavor but they are custom made for the coffee house. SO they are some pretty special pies. Oh, forgot to mention it's a bookstore and they have a large selection of Spanish authors. I rate this place an A++.
October 25: Day of the Dead festival in Denton. Coffin races, crafts, and free candy, I mean what else can you ask for?
October 30: Speaking of Day of the Dead, my Spanish 3060 class built an ofrenda. An ofrenda is a mini shrine dedicated to a loved one or anyone who has departed. You add colorful decorations, food, candles to illuminate their spirits coming back to our world... don't get freaked out; just google it.
November 9: Remember when I told y'all about the First Aid Kit? Well I (again) won tickets to a show! (Thanks Granada) This was possibly one of the most memorable shows of my entire life. You see, I went solo. No, not because I wanted to. I had two tickets, boyfriend got sick, didn't want to bother anyone last minute to attend with me. (Okay, I did have someone to invite but I didn't want to change her plans so last minute) So. I went solo for the first time to a concert. I cried actual tears. I've said it again and again. It was such an intimate show. They sang beautifully. If you ever get the opportunity to see these lovely Swedish sisters performed do yourself a favor and go.
There.
My timeline.
xoxo liz
