call it an update.

11:36 AM

Hey babes,

As I sit here at Houndstooth wondering what my next post should be about or if I should even continue this journey since I am totally not consistent ( I DID WARN YOU ALL)
& honest to God I have no clue what to talk about with you all...

I suppose I can tell you all the exciting things that I've been doing this past month in a freaking half and what is going through this mind of mine.

In the past, I have shied away from ever meeting people through social media because I find myself intimidated by either the amount of followers they have, feel uber self-conscious of what they will think of me and have been afraid to feel some sort of social anxiety creep up when and if meet up.

But at the age of 26, I find it difficult to meet people because well... where the hell DO you meet people now-a-days? I haven't spoken to people I went to high school with since I graduated high school and sometimes i'll send them an occasional and super generic 'happy birthday' post on their Facebook wall but that is about it. (Damn now that I think of it, that high school reunion is creepin' up fast haha) But again, I don't do socializing very well and I tend to be more of a homebody... until now.

It has been some time since the event happened but I had the opportunity to go to a Glossier event.
(SHOUTOUT to Maddie G for making me her +1 (IG: @weirrdhoney) who is a Glossier rep!)
But, socializing with a bunch of ladies who are not only absolutely gorgeous and smart BUT are also super inspiring. The amount of influence that pours out of them and their beautiful Instagram posts makes you feel so empowering.

We talked beauty regimens, life, roasted on each other a bit (*cough Yareli & Solais cough*) all over cocktails and delicious food at Top Knot. Also had the pleasure of meeting new yet familiar faces (~hi Nhu btw, she's got amazing music taste like I do so... yeah... she's basically the best)
Sushi, cocktails and Glossier products? It's as dope as it sounds, ladies. Now I am totally obsessed with Glossier products.

Since then, I've meet some wonderful people, have drank a bountiful amount of coffee and have been to some life-changing concerts. Oh, & NATALIA LAFOURCADE came out with a new album so that it news worth material! So, heres some shots of this months highlights. Enjoy.

Coffee & Music... The Expected.

12:00 PM

Hello darling.

Last week was such a fun-filled, memory-engraved worthy week. To start off, Valentines Day was such a dream. Shane and I have this tradition going where he gifts me with a vinyl record. So of course, he outdid himself yet again and bought me succulents, Devendra Banhart's new album on vinyl with Devendra Banhart concert tickets. KILLER, HUH!?

The concert at Granada Theater- one of Dallas' most beloved venues, was absolutely divine! If your ears haven't had opportunity to collect these beautiful sound waves in your ear canal then please do so NOW. His eclectic, modern 60's psychedelic vibey feel in which I honestly believe he's created his very own genre is pure magic and worth listening live or not.
(Personally, his Spanish songs are my absolute favorite)

So, do yourself a favor and become a fan already.

Last Sunday I had the opportunity to socialize with some lovely Dallas IG influencers with captivating feeds

People say time flies when you are in good company and that Sunday coffee date can vouch for that. Plus, delicious coffee & tasty baked goods at Boulangerie by Village Baking Co.
... that was the icing on the cake (or croissant).
First time sipping their lattes and I must say I will DEFINITELY be returning soon.
Jennifer (@Solais2)Yareli (@staycutee__) & Maddie (@weirrdhoney) were such a delight! Oh, and Jennifer's puppy Milo (@milo_maltipoo2) joined our date which made it absolutely perfect.

Now, I promised consistency and I will try to deliver to the few of you who are willing to listen. I will attempt to post every Tuesday so i'll keep you all posted with latte photos and some of my favorite coffee spots. I am still trying to get a feel for this and will take me a minute to figure out and perfect the layout so if there is anything you all would like suggest I am always open to listen.

Have a beautiful Tuesday, loves.

ACL

Solo at a music festival.

7:27 PM

Just as the title stated... I attended ACL Weekend one, A-L-O-N-E.

It is not the first time I have had the privilege to listen to amazing music by myself (First Aid Kit)  but never have I gone to a completely different city while there are 450 thousand people around me. It was definitely spectacular.

Now, the first day I arrived I had people ask me who I was there to see but to be completely honest I had no idea. I never had planned to go (um... broke college student here) but I had the opportunity to go thanks to Mr. Tommy Botts. ( Dude, I still can't thank you enough and have no idea how I will repay you but I will) Basically, he gave me this amazing experience.

I remember walking up to the gates and having 56% battery on my phone, alone, no service due to the thousands of people, no car, and I was a little afraid. But once I walked through the gates and saw Leon Bridges on the huge screen by the Honda stage... my fear was just lifted. I just swayed to the music and let the amazing music festival vibes take control.

After just swaying and dancing solo for about 20 minutes, I decided to contact my cousin Erick. Didn't have the opportunity to hang with him the entire day but I had the honorable privilege to hang with Miriam, Jose, and Zully. Saturday was a completely solo day. Sunday, all I've got to say is The Strokes.

If I sat here and told you everything that went through my mind those three days I would just end up writing a book.

Tame Impala. The Strokes. Drake. Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Leon Bridges. Billy F'ing Idol. Yes. Billy Idol, guys. Rayland Baxter. Disclosure. Of Monsters and Men. José Gonzáles. Just to name a few of the people I saw!

I'd say the hardest thing was when some of these amazing performers overlapped. But hey... that just gives me an excuse to go again, right? I'm taking Tommy with me for sure.

The amazing thing was that not only did I experience this memorable, spontaneous, life changing experience completely alone... but I met new amazing people and had the chance to see my two amazing friends, Kim and Elijah who kept Shane company. Thanks for inviting us to Paco's Tacos just to drop shrimp taco all over my white dress (thanks Tide-To-Go), for $1 mimosas, and get my brain gears turning with my first Scrabble game at Spider House cafe. Yes, I said first Scrabble game at 25 years young.

Well, that's basically everything that's been going on in my life that is actually post worthy not all that crap I've been writing about so far. Literally laugh out loud'ing right now reading what I've written. So enjoy the few pictures I took since I had no polaroid film, no actual nice camera, and 56% battery life. If you know me... you know how difficult that is.

I am utterly blessed to have encountered amazing people in this life of mine and yes that does include the dude that made my latte that morning I had to complete my homework assignment while in Austin.

Coffee Got Cold.

9:11 PM

When was this created?

I can't believe I haven't written, yet again. I mean I really had so much to tell you all. I have to tell you about all my homework assignments and the amount of caffeine I have inhaled these past few weeks, wait has it been months?

Basically, my life has been the busiest that if I actually posted it would just be a copy of my planner, which is full of school assignments and nothing that interesting. But, I feel it is only fair I update you on the actual fun and exciting things I have encountered. So, let me begin my timeline...

September freakin' 8: Washed Out Concert: I MET THE GREENES. Yes, it was incredible and I freaked out. I have had the privilege of meeting them before at a KXT private show and must I say they are INCREDIBLY kind. It's kind of how us southerners are. What can I say...?

September 21: Little cousin turned 15. Why can't I be 15 again? Oh yeah... cause life doesn't work that way. Ugh. Find me a time turner, NOW. But, she had an open bar, a photo booth, it had a colorful, traditional Mexican theme, and did I mention it was open bar?

September 28: I had the opportunity to see Chris Ramirez in action! Give this guy a Tony, geez.

October 5: Ah, yes... the most wonderful time of the year. Ok, almost as good as Christmas. The State Fair of Texas. Gaining 10 pounds never felt and tasted so good. This year was a good one. The funnel cake ale, the fried chicken in a cone, sweet cotton candy, krispy kream burger (ehm... don't try that one), and Fletcher's corny dogs. Ah, fall.

October 11: Have you ever listened to the Dirty River Boys? Oh you haven't?! Please click and listen.  They're from El Paso, Texas so you know they'll be good. They performed one hell of a show. I had such a blast and you know what was even better? I won tickets! So I saved about $12 bucks. Hashtag: BOOYAH.

October 13: Some may think that trying out a new coffee shop isn't such a big deal, but this is what I live for. Coffee runs through my veins. So I drove to the Bishops Art District and sat for hours at The Wild Detectives. Deliciously delicious lattes and iced coffee. Just simple, they don't have flavor to add but it was honestly so good it didn't need any. Plus, they serve Emporium Pies pies. They only have two flavor but they are custom made for the coffee house. SO they are some pretty special pies. Oh, forgot to mention it's a bookstore and they have a large selection of Spanish authors. I rate this place an A++.

October 25: Day of the Dead festival in Denton. Coffin races, crafts, and free candy, I mean what else can you ask for?

October 30: Speaking of Day of the Dead, my Spanish 3060 class built an ofrenda. An ofrenda is a mini shrine dedicated to a loved one or anyone who has departed. You add colorful decorations, food, candles to illuminate their spirits coming back to our world... don't get freaked out; just google it.

November 9: Remember when I told y'all about the First Aid Kit? Well I (again) won tickets to a show! (Thanks Granada) This was possibly one of the most memorable shows of my entire life. You see, I went solo. No, not because I wanted to. I had two tickets, boyfriend got sick, didn't want to bother anyone last minute to attend with me. (Okay, I did have someone to invite but I didn't want to change her plans so last minute) So. I went solo for the first time to a concert. I cried actual tears. I've said it again and again. It was such an intimate show. They sang beautifully. If you ever get the opportunity to see these lovely Swedish sisters performed do yourself a favor and go.

There.

My timeline.

P.S.
It's 11:00 p.m. and I just had coffee.

The return.

4:30 PM

Tackled day two without having refuel with coffee. But, I sure did refuel on a delicious iced green tea latte. Ha!

Let's begin from the beginning again, duh. After having an entire summer with no responsibilities (I didn't take summer classes; I know right, what was I thinking) but where was I... ah yes, no responsibilities what so ever. Until today. Until this entire week. Lets just say I babysat 3 kids from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45, drove to Hurst which is suppose to be a 30 minute drive (right?)... sure took me about 19 minutes since I was zipping through traffic and babysat the girls from 12:04 to 5:30 pm. Oh, remember the cupcake thing? It worked! They napped for 2 hours. Thank. God. So, they earned the chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting and edible glitter, but of course until AFTER dinner.

I am now at what I think is my favorite coffeehouse e-v-e-r.
Typing.
Like I said I would.

I am currently at Roots Coffehouse. The barista, who remembered my freakin' name, again was as sweet as ever. I had coffee this morning so I thought I should change it up a bit and you guessed it, a iced green tea latte. Ugh. It's delicious. I'm not a fan of green tea, I'll admit, but I might just change my mind. Or I just really trust/love this place. I am once again taking a breather while listening to First Aid Kit. Anyone out there a fan? If you are and if you live in the Dallas area they will be performing here. Dates are TBD at the moment. So if you are into that acoustic, folky, indie music you should check it out. They will be performing at the Granada Theater, one of my all time favorite venues. But I won't get into it, that'll be an entirely different post.

But sure listen to one of their new tunes: My Silver Lining by First Aid Kit

Well, my phone just went off... it's not on silent... and there goes my Harry Potter: Hedwig's Theme ringtone. I'll let y'all go now so I can answer that.
(BTW, people are throwing the biggest grins I've ever seen. Good sign.)

xoxo

UPDATE: The baristas name is Alyssa.

Coffee saved the day.

6:43 PM

What a busy, busy day. Let's just say, thank GOD for coffee.

From the beginning. Stopped at Starbucks (duh.) and drove to work. Ok, I am officially CPR/First aid trained. Hooray! I use to think CPR was a great excuse to kiss cute boys. As bad as I want to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt unconscious just to save his life AND give him a huge smooch, I don't have that kind of luck. But honestly, I hope I never have to do it. But hey, if you're ever unconscious and not breathing... just give me a call.

After that, I babysat two sweet girls but booooy I can not be a mother any. time. soon. If anyone can tell me any secrets on how to get them to take a nap please oh please share! So far I've bribed them with cupcakes so I pray it works tomorrow. (Oh, and they asked for a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting and edible glitter)

An entire productive and busy morning checked off so I decided to stop by a coffee shop I've been eyeing for quiet a while. It is in North Richland Hills right by Tarrant County College and I have nothing but positive things to say! The rustic feel, dim lighting, the pyrography logo on the wooden table... I love it all! I walked in an the barista what absolutely wonderful. She recommend a delicious drink, gave me a BOGO coupon, and even went the extra mile by giving me an extra stamp on my new loyalty card! So, I sat there to work on my planner, take a little breather, and enjoy the atmosphere. When I finished up and walked towards the door I hear, "Later, Liz!" LIKE, HOW AMAZING IS THAT?! I am defenitly going to visit tomorrow and who knows; I might even do a little typing as well.

So overall, I had a wickedly amazing day. I am so ready for round two.

xoxo
Liz
